There are two primary tests the NewMed Immediate Care team uses to identify a COVID-19 infection:
An antigen test is a rapid test that uses a sample of fluids from your nose or throat to check for the SARS-CoV-2 virus. Results are available in 15-30 minutes.
NAAT involves collecting a fluid sample from the nose or throat. The team sends the sample to a medical lab that checks for the SARS-CoV-2 virus. NAAT results aren’t instant but are generally considered more reliable than other COVID-19 tests.
If you have an active infection, your provider reviews your options for managing symptoms at home. They can also recommend medical treatments to address breathing issues and other serious COVID-19 symptoms.
