What is urgent care?

Urgent care refers to immediate or same-day treatment for unexpected or sudden illnesses, minor injuries, and chronic disease flare-ups.

NewMed Immediate Care offers walk-in and same-day appointments, ensuring fast, high-quality care that eases your symptoms and puts you on the road to recovery.

What conditions does urgent care treat?

The NewMed Immediate Care team provides exceptional treatment for many conditions. A few of the most common include:

  • Flu
  • Fevers
  • Earaches
  • Coughs
  • Sore throat
  • Strep throat
  • Vomiting
  • Ongoing diarrhea
  • Skin rashes
  • Severe headaches or migraines
  • Abdominal pain
  • Pain or burning when urinating

What services are available through urgent care?

At NewMed Immediate Care, you can access highly trained healthcare providers ready to provide a wide range of services, including X-rays, on-site labs, and strep, flu, and COVID-19 testing.

After completing a comprehensive exam, they provide treatment, prescribe medication when needed, and recommend self-care steps you can take to feel better.

When do I need the ER instead of urgent care?

Emergency rooms provide advanced care for severe injuries and life-threatening conditions. ER teams prioritize patients with the most severe or pressing needs.

As a result, you may wait a long time in the ER if your condition could be treated with urgent care at NewMed Immediate Care.

Conditions that need ER attention include:

  • Sudden and/or severe pain
  • Seizures
  • Sudden, severe headaches
  • Fever with a rash, stiff neck, or headache
  • Head or eye injury
  • Sudden vision changes
  • Broken bones or dislocated joints
  • Severe vomiting or diarrhea
  • Known or suspected poisoning or overdose
  • Severe wounds with heavy bleeding

Call 911 if you have signs of a life-threatening emergency. The signs of a heart attack include chest pain, difficulty breathing, and pain in your jaw or arm. A stroke may cause weakness on one side (one arm or one side of your face) and difficulty speaking.

When you need prompt, same-day treatment, you can depend on exceptional care from the NewMed Immediate Care team. They welcome walk-in patients, but you can also call the nearest office or schedule an appointment online.
